Strongly condemned the fresh wave of illegal and arbitrary crackdown on resistance leadership, activists, & youth : JRL | KNO

Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik has strongly condemned the fresh wave of illegal and arbitrary crackdown on resistance leadership their aides and activists and the youth in general across the valley by the anti Kashmiri authorities and agencies under the garb of maintaining "peace", to which these agencies are the greatest threat themselves by oppressing and harassing people.

While the leadership continues to be under house arrest, dozens of leaders and activists have been detained in jails or caged in their homes. Day and night raids are being conducted on their homes to harass them and their families.

JRL also expressed deep regret and dismay  that the Govt. of United States  instead of stressing  upon the Indian prime minister Mr. Modi during his visit to that country to immediately put an end to the brutal oppression that the people of occupied Kashmir are subject to by Indian armed forces and initiate serious steps towards the resolution of the  Kashmir dispute, to provide relief to the oppressed people of Kashmir and for the restoration of lasting peace and stability in the highly volatile region,  chose to maintain a complete silence over it.

JRL said that the US is well aware that for the past 70 years the people of J&K are engaged in a long and peaceful struggle for achieving their basic human and political right, the right to self determination, guaranteed by the UN, but ruthlessly resisted and suppressed by the Indian state through use of extreme force.

They said that Instead of taking cognizance of these facts ,the US government has strangely designated the veteran freedom fighter leader Syed Salah-ud-din as a terrorist, who supports the people’s right to self determination and was forced to take up arms to fight  India’s military occupation and oppression, as many youngsters witnessing unprecedented repression are sadly doing so even today and laying down their precocious lives.

The leadership said that this unjustified  move by the US government to appease the Government of  India and their (US)silence regarding the oppression and human rights situation in Kashmir, is not acceptable to the people of Kashmir who will also strongly protest against it across the valley post Friday prayers tomorrow.

Protests will also be held against the  illegal and arbitrary arrests and detention of resistance leaders, activists and youth and raid on homes  being conducted  across the valley.
